Navigating the Holidays
Freelancing Females the holiday season is nearly upon us, and with it comes a mix of cozy gatherings, busy client deadlines, and—let’s be honest—a sprinkle of chaos. When you’re juggling work commitments and family time, it’s easy for self-care to fall off the list. But this year, let’s make it different!
The most successful entrepreneurs I know are optimistic. It’s part of the job description.
⏰ Make time for yourself - seriously
Start by blocking off your calendar just like you would for any client project, but this time, it’s for you. Carve out little windows of “me time”—even if it’s just a 10-minute tea break to stretch, journal, or simply breathe. These small pauses will recharge you, giving you the energy to tackle the day with a clear mind. Remember, you’re worth every single minute of that time! And as you dive into the holiday rush, boundaries are going to be your best friend. It’s easy to feel like you need to say “yes” to every invitation or family request, but setting gentle limits helps you stay energized. Before your calendar fills up, decide on your non-negotiables—maybe it’s reserving one day a week to unwind, or setting specific work hours so you’re not fielding client calls during family dinners. Letting your loved ones in on your plans with a simple, “I’ll be offline after 6 PM, but I’m all yours the rest of the evening” lets them understand and support your work-life balance. The holidays are meant to be enjoyed, and these little boundaries go a long way in making sure you can savor every moment.
🙄 Really, you’re still freelancing?
Now, let's talk family gatherings. There’s often a moment when Aunt Sue or Cousin Joe turns to you with that bewildered look and says, “So… are you still freelancing?” Instead of the quick, “Yes, I’m still doing it!” try taking this opportunity to share something exciting about your work. Let them in on a recent project, or explain how freelancing has given you the freedom to do what you love. The trick here? Keep it positive and engaging—most of the time, family just wants to understand, and they’ll be impressed by your enthusiasm! Even if they aren’t, that’s on them, and it’s not got anything to do with how well you or your business are doing.
👯♀️ You aren’t alone
Don’t forget to ask for support when you need it. The holidays can get intense, and you don’t have to carry it all alone. If you’re feeling stretched, let loved ones know you’re balancing work and may need a bit of grace or even some quiet time to meet deadlines. You might even find they’re more supportive than you’d expect! Setting these boundaries helps everyone know what to expect and lets you fully enjoy the season without sacrificing your sanity. If you don’t feel like you have a support network you can lean on IRL, please lean on our Freelancing Females community <3
Let’s head into the holidays refreshed, recharged, and ready to celebrate all you’ve accomplished this year.

Funday Sweets
My new addiction for when I holiday binge-watch movies are these Funday Sweets. Not only do they taste great but they’re made with 100% natural ingredients so you aren’t left with that awful tummy ache after snacking on sweets. Also a great snack for powering through client work in the afternoons because who doesn’t love a sweet treat?!
